The tour begins with everyone being picked up in Reykjavik. After that, you leave the bright city lights behind and head out to the dark countryside. The darkness is needed to see the Northern Lights.

Your guide, who specializes in Northern Lights, keeps a close eye on the Northern Lights forecast. On the day of the tour, they decide where they believe the best spot is to see the lights for that evening. The location can vary depending on weather conditions.

The main goal of Northern Lights hunting is to find clear skies, so the duration of the tour might change based on how far they need to take you away from Reykjavik. Usually, this tour lasts about 4 hours.

When you arrive at the chosen spot, if the lights are visible, the guides will take photos of you with the lights. You will receive these photos for free after the tour.

What to bring

The pickup time varies depending on the month because it must be completely dark to see the lights. Please make sure you're ready at your pickup spot on time. It might take a little while to pick up everyone, so please be patient. If you choose a hotel pickup, be outside the hotel where the driver can see you.



In the pickup/drop-off list, you will find all available pick-up points. Most of them are located in and around Reykjavík city center. You will be dropped off at the same location. If your accommodation is not on the pickup list try to select the nearest hotel or the closest bus stop.

In such cases, you have two options: receive a full refund of your payment, or you can reschedule your booking for another evening. To reschedule, please contact the tour operator.

- If you don't see any lights, there won't be a refund.

- If the tour happens, and you don't see the Northern Lights, you can join another tour on a different evening for free if there's space available. Just remember you have to contact the tour operator to book the new tour. You are not automatically booked on another tour.

- We recommend that you contact the operator by both calling and sending an email as soon as possible to secure your spot.

- Unfortunately, if you are not available for rescheduling there will be no refund.

However, if you don't see any lights during the tour, you won't get a refund. If the tour does happen, and you miss the Northern Lights, you can join this tour on a different evening for free, provided there's available space. It's important to note that you must contact the tour operator to book the new tour; you won't automatically be rebooked. We recommend that you contact the operator by both calling and sending an email as soon as possible to secure your spot. Unfortunately, if you're not available for rescheduling, there won't be a refund.
