The whale watching capital of Iceland. Your tour starts right here on the pier of Husaviks harbour. Here you will get the warm safety suit and lifevests before heading out to the bay. 



The Puffin Island of the north. This is the first stop of the tour, during the nesting season for puffins (Apr 15th-Aug 15th approx). 



After the short stop at Lundey, your journey will continue out to the deeper waters of Skjalfandi bay, where you will start your search for the big whales. Since you are aboard the speedboat you can cover more area in your search, increasing your chances of seeing these amazing Gentle Giants.

What is included


Before your tour, you will receive warm additional clothing. However, it is strongly advised to bring your own warm and waterproof attire, footwear, and protective bags for your cameras. The weather at sea can be chilly and wet.

What to bring

. We kindly ask you to be at the meeting point no later than 40 minutes before the tour departure. Please check the weather and road conditions for a safe trip.

The tour is dependent on weather and sightings cannot be guaranteed. In the event that there is no sighting you will get the chance to come again for a free retry on board the classic whale watching tour. There is no refund if there is no sighting. 

Passengers with heart or back problems, as well as pregnant women, are not permitted to join the tours on RIB speedboats. Children must be at least 8 years old or have a 

 to participate in the RIB speedboat experience. 

In order to ensure your safety and comfort, the operator reserves the right to modify schedules, even with short notice, in the event of bad weather or other condition changes.

The whale watching tours take place in the wild, unpredictable nature. While we have a high chance of spotting whales, sightings can not be guaranteed. If no whales (including dolphins) are seen on the tour, you can join a classic Whale Watching tour from Husavik for free, depending on availability.



The best months for whale sightings are usually May to September. 

There isn't a specific time of day when you're more likely to see whales. Their presence in the bay can change quickly, and each tour is a new adventure. Sometimes you'll see many whales, sometimes just a few. Nature is unpredictable, making every trip unique.



What are the most common whales in the bay?


The most common whale species encountered during these tours are harbor porpoises, white-beaked dolphins, minke whales, humpback whales, and blue whales.



What should I wear on a whale watching tour?
