Snowmobiling on Langjokull Glacier from Reykjavik

You'll be picked up for your tour from your selected pickup location. 




You will be driven to the glacier basecamp located right in the middle of the Golden Circle, 5 minutes from 

 Here you will get all the gear necessary for the tour like cold weather suits, helmets and boots. The drive is scenic.




When you are ready to go you will board a supertruck heading for the glacier. The driving time to the glacier is weather dependent so it can take from 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on snow. 




When you are on the glacier you will get a safety brief on the snowmobiles and instructions on how to operate the snowmobile. When you are all set you'll go on a 

 snowmobile ride on top of Iceland's second biggest glacier. When the snowmobile ride is finished you will drive back to the glacier base. 




There is a nice bistro at the glacier base, we recommend grabbing a bite there after the ride.

What to bring

Pickup for this tour starts 30 minutes before departure time. We kindly ask you to be ready at your stop at that time. Be mindful that it sometimes takes a little time to pick everybody up. If you have chosen a hotel pickup you will have to be ready outside the hotel where the driver can see you.



In the pickup/drop-off list, you will find all available pick-up points. Most of them are located in and around Reykjavík city center. You will be dropped off at the same location. If your accommodation is not on the pickup list try to select the nearest hotel or the closest bus stop.

Please note that the standard price is for adults sharing a snowmobile ride (shared ride). If you want to ride solo you have to book a single rider. If you are booking for an adult and a child you will book one adult shared ride and one child shared ride.

The operator reserves the right to alter itineraries with your safety in mind. If the weather conditions are dangerous, the tour may be moved or cancelled. If the tour gets cancelled by the operator, you will receive a full refund.

All cancellations need to be made via email or confirmed with the operator directly, their information can be found on the top right side of your ticket.

Please note that in any special circumstances, the operator has the final say on refund matters. We will have to comply with their decision.



Cancellations by customers have to be made with 24 hours or more notice to be eligible for a refund. A cancellation fee of 100% will be charged if the tour is canceled with less than 24 hours notice.

Do I need a drivers license to operate the snowmobile? 


Yes, a valid drivers license is required to operate the snowmobile. 



I have a drivers license but I left it at home? 


No problem, you will have to sign a document stating that you truly have one. 



What is the minimum age to operate a snowmobile? 


You will have to be at least 18 years old to operate a snowmobile. 



How long will I spend on the actual snowmobile? 


1 hour

Do you need a 4x4 to get to the glacier base?


No, although we always recommend driving 4x4 in Iceland, you do not need one to get to the glacier base. The road is paved all the way to the base. You will be driven from the base to the glacier in a specially equipped glacier super truck.
