Westman Islands, Puffin & Volcano Small group Tour from Reykjavik

The tour pickup begins at 07:30 AM in Reykjavik. Once everyone is on board, you'll make your way to the Landeyjahöfn Ferry terminal. From there, you'll board the Herjolfur ferry for a pleasant 30-minute ride to Vestmannaeyjar island.



Our first stop of the day is the Elephant Rock, a breathtaking formation crafted from basalt rock during the volcanic eruption of Eldfell. This remarkable rock takes the shape of an elephant's head, with its trunk elegantly reaching toward the water.



Next, you'll drive to Storhofdi to observe the adorable puffins and take plenty of photos to capture their charm. This is a fantastic chance to witness these delightful birds in their natural habitat.



The next destination is the Eldheimar Museum. Here, you'll have the opportunity to discover the impact of the 1973 volcanic eruption on the area and gain valuable insights into its history. Following that, we'll make our way downtown for lunch.



After lunch, you'll visit Skansinn near the harbor. Here, you'll find Stafkirkjan, a Norse "Viking" Wood Church, a lighthouse, and breathtaking cliff views.



Next up is a hike up Mt. Eldfell Volcano, which erupted in 1973. From the top, you'll enjoy incredible views of the lava fields, town, and island. After the hike, you can explore the town or walk through the lava field before meeting at the harbor.

In the late afternoon, we'll take the ferry back to Reykjavik, arriving in the evening around 9:30.

- Good shoes, there is not a lot of hiking but always clever to bring comfortable footwear.

What to bring

Pick-up for this tour starts at 7:30, we kindly ask you to be ready at your stop at that time. Be mindful that it sometimes takes a little time to pick everybody up. If you have chosen a hotel pickup you will have to be ready outside the hotel where the driver can see you.

In the pickup list, you will find all available pick-up points. Most of them are located in and around Reykjavík city center. You will be dropped off at the same location.
